An update on
telephone banking.

Telephone Banking Service will cease from 1 December 2024

Our telephone banking service will be phased out by the end of this year. The software Illawarra Credit Union uses to deliver telephone banking will no longer be supported from 30 November 2024. As a result, you won’t be able to access telephone banking from 1 December 2024.

Why is this Happening?

Despite accepting all updates and extensions from our third-party provider, they can no longer extend the service beyond this date. The number of users of telephone banking has decreased significantly, leading providers to stop maintaining or developing the necessary software. While we have tried to find a viable replacement, we have been unsuccessful.

You’re Not Alone

This change is affecting customers of other financial institutions using the same service. We understand it might take some time to adjust, but we want to assure you that there are plenty of options available to help you manage your banking needs.

Evolving with Technology

The way we bank has changed a lot since telephone banking was introduced. It initially offered simple functions like checking recent transactions or account balances. Nowadays, internet banking and mobile apps provide a much richer experience, allowing you to do more without visiting a branch. Please note that a mobile number is required to access the full range of Internet and mobile banking services.

Enhancing Your Banking Experience

Over the last decade, we’ve invested in improving our mobile apps and internet banking services. These enhancements include better security measures, more self-service options to save you time, stronger passwords, and greater convenience overall.
